A Visit to Batu Caves

One of Malaysia’s top attractions: Batu Caves in Selangor, easily reachable by comuter train from KL.

Upon coming out of the train station you are met by Hanuman the green monkey god.
Monkeys are free to roam and are used to visitors...be aware your handbags, hats and other loose things are not within reach.

It is only a short walk from the station to Batu Caves. Along the way you will see small buildings with Hindu art work
..and then the world's tallest statue of Murugan comes into sight.
Made of 250 tonnes of steel bar, 300 liters of gold paint and 1550 cubic meters of concrete, the statue of Lord Murugan stands proud at 42.7 meters right outside of Batu Caves.
Before climbing the 272 steps up to Batu Caves it might be a good idea to get something to drink...
...for example, air kelapa - coconut water directly from the fresh fruit
then it is about time to start your journey
always remember: what goes up, must come down 🙂
you will meet many of these small guys on your way to the caves

then entering the big cave
...which at the end reveals a great sight to the skies
the cave is filled with many Hindu figures
...and of course, monkeys which apparantly do not follow any religion.
